How to Create a SwapX Account — Step-by-Step Guide
Creating a SwapX account is one of the quickest onboarding processes you'll encounter on any trading platform. There's no long registration form, no waiting for manual review, and no initial fees. The entire setup — from first visit to your first potential sale — can be done in under ten minutes.
Here's a complete walkthrough of every step.
Before You Begin
Make sure you have the following ready before you start:
- Your Steam account credentials (or be already logged in on your browser)
- The Steam mobile app installed with Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator active (and active for at least 7 days)
- Your Steam Trade URL handy (found in Steam → Inventory → Trade Offers → Third-Party Sites)

Step 1 — Log In with Steam
Go to swapx.gg and click the "Sign in with Steam" button on the homepage or navigation bar.
You'll be redirected to Steam's official OpenID login page. This is hosted by Valve — SwapX never sees or stores your Steam password. Log in as you normally would, then authorize SwapX to access basic profile information.
You'll be redirected back to SwapX, now logged in under your Steam identity. Your username and Steam avatar will appear in the top navigation.
Step 2 — Verify Your Email Address
After logging in for the first time, SwapX will prompt you to provide and verify an email address. This is used for:
- Transaction notifications and receipts
- Account security alerts
- Payment confirmations
Enter an email address you have access to and click "Send Verification Link". Check your inbox (and spam folder) for an email from SwapX. Click the link inside to confirm your address.
Important: You won't be able to complete sales until your email is verified. This step protects both you and the integrity of the platform.
Step 3 — Add Your Steam Trade URL
Once your email is verified, head to your account settings or the dedicated Trade URL section (SwapX will also prompt you to add this during onboarding).
Your Trade URL is a unique link that enables SwapX to send you trade offers directly — without needing to be on your Steam friends list. Without it, no trade offer can be sent and no sale can go through.
To find your Trade URL in Steam:
- Open Steam and go to your profile
- Click "Inventory"
- Click "Trade Offers" in the top-right
- Select "Who can send me Trade Offers?"
- Scroll to the "Third-Party Sites" section
- Copy the full Trade URL shown there
Paste the URL into SwapX and save. That's it — your account is now linked to your Steam inventory.
Step 4 — Explore Your Inventory
Once your Trade URL is saved, SwapX automatically loads your CS2 inventory. You'll see all tradable skins with their current buyout prices displayed.
Items that are trade locked (temporarily untradable) will appear with a lock indicator and the date they become available. You can't sell them yet, but they're visible so you can plan ahead.
Step 5 — Start Your First Sale
To sell a skin, click on it in the inventory view, review the quoted price, and add it to your cart. You can add multiple items at once. When you're ready:
- Go to your cart
- Select your preferred payment method and enter payout details
- Click "Sell" to confirm
- Accept the trade offer that SwapX sends to your Steam account
- Wait for payment to process
The first sale might feel slightly slower as you get used to confirming trades on the Steam mobile app, but it becomes second nature very quickly.
Tips for a Smooth Setup
- Use the same browser session as Steam — being already logged into Steam in the same browser makes the OAuth redirect faster and smoother.
- Check your Trade URL after account changes — if you've recently reset your Steam privacy settings or changed account details, your Trade URL may have changed.
- Keep your Steam Guard active — deactivating or switching devices resets the 7-day waiting period for trade confirmations.
